Confirming the news that our Bothan spies brought to us three weeks ago, KTM North America is going to bring in the KTM 200 Duke as a 2020 model.

The little baby Duke might not seem like the first choice for motorcycle models coming to the United States, that is until you look at the price tag that will come on this 200cc thumper: $3,999 MSRP.

This makes the 2020 KTM 200 Duke the only full-sized motorcycle from a major OEM that is under $4,000 new, which could be a game changer for the Austrian brand as it tries to capture younger riders.

Desmo Dovi is no more. The eight-year partnership between Andrea Dovizioso and Ducati Corse will come to an end when the flag falls after the last race of the 2020 MotoGP season.

The news was made official by Dovizioso’s manager Simone Battistella, after a final meeting with Ducati management to try to agree terms. Battistella told broadcaster Sky Italia that they had been unable to find common ground to continue.

Fresh with its new livery design, MV Agusta sent us these photos of the Superveloce 800, which is just now starting to make its way out of the Italian company’s factory in Varese.

While the basics of the motorcycle center around MV Agusta’s modern 145hp, 800cc, three-cylinder platform, the exterior of the Superveloce 800 is what is grabbing headlines, as the retro-modern look of the sport bike is quite the head-turner.

Therefore it should go without saying that we needed little convincing in order to publish the 98 high-resolution phots of this machine.

The Aprilia Tuono V4 1100 seems set to get wings for the next model year, as the eagle eyes at GPone have caught the Italian streetfighter testing with a MotoGP-inspired aerodynamics package.

Caught spinning laps in Imola with test rider Lorenzo Savadori at the control, what we see here is surely coming for the next model year, but the question is whether it will be a street bike or not.

Sad trombone. The new Honda CBR600RR that we have been so excited about is destined not to come to US soil, American Honda has told us.

As we knew already, the 2021 Honda CBR600RR would not be coming to the European continent either, making the 600cc supersport a rather odd duck in terms of where it will be for sale.

Honda has confirmed to Asphalt & Rubber that the new CBR600RR will come to the Japanese market, and perhaps some other select Asian markets, primarily for racing homologation purposes, meaning it likely will be made in a small production volume.

Motorcycle sales in the United States have had a tumultuous year so far, starting Q1 off with a 9% sales decline from 2019. That figure didn’t tell the whole story though, as not all segments were reacting similarly to the coronavirus lockdown.

While street bike sales were down 23%, off-road bikes were up an astounding 30% (dual-sport sales split the difference, and were down 5% for the first quarter).

That dichotomy has continued onward as 2020 marched on, with the MIC now reporting that dirt bike sales continued to impress this year with a 50.3% gain, when tallying the first six months of the year.

Honda gave us quite the surprise last week, announcing that there would be a new Honda CBR600RR sport bike for the 2021 model year.

While we are still another week away from the official debut (and thus when all the details will be revealed), we learn more about the supersport with each passing day.

Today, we get a fresh batch of photos (which we first saw on Italian website Moto.it), which give us a better glimpse of this restyled CBR600RR.

One of the motorcycle launches that was swallowed by the coronavirus outbreak was the debut of the BMW R18 – the german company’s giant air-cooled cruiser model.

There is a bit of irony in that fact, considering how long the German brand teased the bike in its near final form, only to see it production debut overshadowed by a global pandemic, but that’s the tough reality.

Just two weeks ago, we were rounding up the rumors on the next Honda CBR600RR, with talk that the 600cc supersport would be making an August arrival, and sadly not be an all-new machine.

Those rumors seem to be spon-on, because Big Red is now teasing the 2021 Honda CBR600RR on its Japanese website as well as YouTube. As such, we now expect to see the new Honda CBR600RR debut on August 21st.

Ever since the demise of Alta Motors, the motorcycle industry has been in need of a proper electric dirt bike offering.

There is some hope that Honda’s electric CR prototype could come to fruition, and Yamaha’s electric trial bike certainly looks the business, but as of yet, there is surprisingly nothing on the market that looks like it would be at home on a motocross track.

That might change if the Dutch have anything to say about it, though. Here is the EMX Bike – a joint-project from SPIKE Technologies and Dohms Projects, with support by Yamaha Motor Europe and KNMV, which has been in the works for the last year and a half.

The official launch of the EMX Bike is set for the end of this year, but the team is already teasing their project, which promises 250cc performance, a swappable battery pack, and a potent off-road package.

A new road race is set to come to the motorsport stage: the Diamond Races at the Isle of Wight in England.

The races will use a time trial format, like the Isle of Man TT, with a 12.4-mile road course winding through several towns and down the island’s coast. 

But the real advantage of the Diamond Races is its location, as the Isle of Wight is located just southeast of Southampton, and sits just under three hours from London, making it an easy and approachable racing event for British and international fans.
