Unveiled at the COP15 United Nations Climate Conference in Denamrk, the Copenhagen Wheel system was developed by Ducati Energia, MIT’s SENSEable City Lab, and Progical Solutions for the Kobenhavns Kommune (City of Copenhagen), and is an electrical drive system that can be added to any bicycle to help assist the rider with a boost of extra power. Along with its motor assist, the Copenhagen Wheel has a variety of sensors that relay information back to the rider via a Bluetooth connection that syncs with the rider’s smart phone (iPhone used in the demonstration). It’s a pretty cool concept, check after the jump a video and more.

Ducati North America has announced that the Hypermotard 796 will be in dealerships before the New Year, and some dealerships will have the new motard as early as this weekend (that’s tomorrow, or today if you work in the A&R office!).

If you’re having a hard time finding the right gift for that special motorcyclist in your life, this might be the chance to get them what they really want this year. Nothing says Merry Christmas like a $9,995 lightweight red Ducati Hypermotard 796 with a bow on it. Press release after the jump.

If you’ve ever been to San Marco Square in Venice, Italy, then you’ve surely been bombarded by the flying-rats we call pigeons that lay reign over the city’s square. Milan, located only about a couple of hours away from Venice, had an avis rex of its own during the EICMA motorcycle show: the 2010 Ducati Multistrada 1200.

Taking the show’s honors as the top bike on display, and surely one of the most hyped motorcycles of the year, the Multistrada 1200 won over crowds, despite its face…literally. Love it or hate it, but the bird-beaked bike is here to stay, and we’ve got all sorts of delicious pictures of it after the jump.

Along with updating the Ducati 1098R’s nomenclature to the 1198 naming that’s being used with the base and “S” model, Ducati has also released two special edition motorcycles that will use the new 1198R designation. The first new model is the same Troy Bayliss replica that was available last year (sans a new gas tank), but Ducati has also released the 2010 Ducati 1198R Corse Special Edition. Photos and more after the jump.

After unveiling the 2010 Ducati Hypermotard 1100 EVO SP, we were impressed with the new performance specs, but the look of the bike really hadn’t changed that much. Enticing us to empty our wallets further, Ducati put together an EVO SP will an assortment of their official Ducati accessories kit, and the result is stunning. Click past the jump to see the pictures of it straight from the floors of EICMA.
