The first piece of Ducati’s World Superbike puzzle was revealed today, as the Italian brand is welcoming back Alvaro Bautista to its ranks for the 2022 season.

Alvaro Bautista is set to replace Scott Redding (who is headed to the BMW Motorrad squad for more money), and all signs point to Chaz Davies also leaving the Italian brand at the end of the season (Davies is currently 10th in the WorldSBK Championship).

Franco Morbidelli is to race for the Monster Energy Yamaha team next year.

Speaking to us, Yamaha Motor Racing Managing Director Lin Jarvis confirmed that the Italian is to move up to the factory team for the 2022 season, once the details of the contract have been sorted out.

Jarvis was speaking to us as part of a much larger interview to be published after the Austrian round of MotoGP.

Morbidelli’s move to the factory team is a result of a situation which was hard to imagine at the start of the 2021 season. Back in January, Yamaha looked to have one of the strongest rider lineups in MotoGP.

The BMW CE 04 electric scooter has debuted, as expected, and will be coming to the US early next year.

Focused on being an electric two-wheeler for the urban market, the BMW CE 04 will come with a price tag that starts at $11,800, which is neither a bargain-basement deal nor a wallet-busting MSRP.

The bike’s aesthetic is probably the machine’s biggest draw, as despite the BME CE 04’s modern look, the new EV platform is a bit underwhelming in the performance category.

The BMW S1000RR is getting some very mild updates for the 2022 model year, but they do go beyond the attractive “bold new colors” that come with the new black livery that is available.

The biggest change is that BMW Motorrad is making the M Chassis kit for the BMW S1000RR standard on the 2022 model, which means an adjustable swingarm pivot and adjustable tail riser.
