Singapore to Host MotoGP in 2011, or 2012, or Whenever They Build A Track

MotoGP’s CEO Carmelo Ezpeleta has just signed an agreement to have a round of the the 2011 MotoGP season be hosted in Singapore. Now, all that needs to happen is for there to be a MotoGP caliber track in Singapore that the 2011 two-wheeled warriors can actually race around.

KTM released the 2008 RC8 in extremely limited numbers. Worried that these early adopters might feel their exclusivity was at risk, is releasing a KTM RC8 R version for 2009….for those discerning buyers.

Well what do you do if you want an even more exclusive RC8? What if you want to run in the 9’s on the 1/4 mile? Oh, well then you’ll need to supercharge it. And that’s just what Lantto Racing, a Finnish drag racing team, has done. Read more, and watch a dyno-run after the break.

EICMA: 2009 KTM 990 Adventure R

KTM has latched onto the idea that if you make a bike, a great way to make the same bike…but more money on it, is to make an R version with some extra trick parts. It’s called market segmentation, and this author likes it. Likes it a lot. That being said, here is the 2009 KTM 990 Adventure R. It has more power, less weight, and is focused on being the bike for off-road adventure. More on those changes after the jump.

In case you didn’t see this last MotoGP season, you may not have heard of the shenanigans going on in the Repsol Honda garage. With a very unhappy Nicky Hayden, and what has been described as an imaginary wall across the team’s garage, Nicky’s move to Ducati has been a welcomed change.

With most camps being cheeky as to the details that have surrounded the team falling outs, it is interesting to see what outsiders, who may have some more perspective, have to say about the whole thing. MotoGP.com released a short article about Kevin Schwantz’s perspective on Nicky, but left a very telling quote for the end of the article. Click to see what he said.

Argentina-Chile Dakar Rally 2009

On January 13th, 2009, the Dakar Rally will for the first time, not involve trekking to Africa. Instead the venue will be held in Argentina and Chile. The change comes after the rally was cancelled last year for the first time since its inception in 1979 due to concerns over security. This coming rally will cover 5600 miles of varying terrain, just like the original rally. 530 teams will take off from Buenos Aires to start their six-day journey, of which there will be 230 motorcycless, 30 quads, 188 cars, and 82 trucks, from 49 nations.

Posh Spice Learning to Ride Motorcycles

Posh Spice, I mean Victoria Beckham, is about to become the newest member in the motorcycling family. Her now stateside football start husband David “Bend it Like” Beckham bought her lessons to learn how to ride a motorcycle.

According to showbizspy.com a source said, “Victoria has always had a thing about motorbikes. They’re iconic and you can’t help but look cool on one. She always dreamed of riding one but obviously it’s a dangerous and time-consuming hobby. With her career and the kids she never thought to learn until David surprised her with the lessons. She is nervous but looking forward to speeding down the Pacific Coast Highway to Malibu and around the Hollywood Hills in big old boots.”

Brno extends MotoGP contract until 2013

MotoGP will return to the Brno, Czech Republic until at least 2013, thanks to a recent extension of the current agreement between the circuit’s owners and MotoGP’s owners, Dorna Sports. With this extension, MotoGP visits to Brno are assured for at least the next five years.

Brno date is a popular stop with the MotoGP riders and fans alike, with over 240,000 fans watching the race this year in Brno over the course of the weekend.
