WSBK: Leon Camier Signs with MV Agusta for 2017

Leon Camier will continue with the MV Agusta factory team in World Superbike next season, signing a new contract with the Italian factory during the Jerez race weekend.

This is good news, both for Camier and MV Agusta, as the pair have made great strides this season with the MV Agusta F4 racing platform. Camier currently sits eighth in the World Superbike standings, and has finished in the Top 5 on seven occasions so far this season.

Consistently punching higher than his weight class, with the aged superbike, Camier will head into the 2017 with good momentum, and a team that seems to grow stronger with each passing round.

“You know I put a lot of work in the last couple of years and I’ve seen the team has grown and improved and everyone’s really passionate about growing and moving forward,” said Camier to WorldSBK.com.

“I think it’s really obvious from the outside that we’ve made some big steps, so for me it’s something that I want to see through and try and take it to the next step again I believe in the bike 100%.”

“And I believe the bike has the potential to be on the podium in situations, so I want to see it through and I have a good feeling with the team and bike and so for me I’m really happy to stay here and become better.”

In talking with those from the MV Agusta factory, Camier is a highly valued contributor to the team, with his inputs as a development rider relied upon greatly.

While the MV Agusta F4 is showing its age in the World Superbike paddock, Camier’s input have helped steer the development of the next generation superbike from MV Agusta, though it certainly won’t arrive in time for the 2017 season.

Still, with MV Agusta’s racing package improving with each round, Camier will be a rider to watch for some surprises in the coming season. We wouldn’t rule out a couple podium finishes from the Brit.
