Episode 254 of the Paddock Pass Podcast is out, and it is a WorldSBK show, which means that this one sees Steve English and Gordon Ritchie on the mics.
This round sees the guys reporting on the WorldSBK action in Indonesia, for the final chapter into what has been a fascinating story about the 2021 season.
With Toprak Razgatlıoglu clinching the WorldSBK Championship title at Mandalika, the guys look at not only the weekend’s racing, but also how we got to this point in time through the season.
With this being WorldSBK’s first stop at Mandalika though, Steve and Gordo first look at the Mandalika International Street Circuit itself, as it is a brand new venue on the island of Lombok.
From there, Steve and Gordo discuss how tight the championship was this, and how Jonathan Rea or Scott Redding could have won the title had things played out only slightly differently.
The guys then debate Razgatlıoglu’s strengths, and make a very strong case for why he would be better off staying in WorldSBK rather than going to MotoGP.
Then they turn to Jonathan Rea, and look at why things didn’t go his way this year. And they discuss how the season played out for the other title rivals, and how things might change in 2022.
All in all, it is an insightful show that is sure to give you a better look at what is going on behind the scenes in the WorldSBK Championship paddock.
