“Spanish Elvis” Racing Next Year with MV Agusta

Jordi Torres is one the big personalities in the World Superbike Championship, and he has done well this season on the Althea BMW S1000RR. For the 2018 season though, Torres – that’s “Spanish Elvis” to his fans – will be on a factory bike, getting a ride with MV Agusta Reparto Corse.

Torres will have big boots to fill at MV Agusta, as Leon Camier has impressed in recent seasons, putting the MV Agusta F4 RC into points positions no one thought possible. Camier leaves MV Agusta, for greener pastures at the Red Bull Honda WorldSBK team.

With MV Agusta set to continue with the current platform for the 2018 season, not much technical progress can be made for Torres, which in a way will make for unfair some comparisons for the Spaniard, who is riding in his fourth season of WorldSBK racing.

Still, a strong debut with MV Agusta could help boost Torres into the spotlight for other factory teams, and of course the Italian squad will be able to give him more support than what’s been coming from BMW Motorrad and the Althea squad.

“I’m really excited to start this new season with Team MV Agusta Reparto Corse,” said Torres. “Over these recent seasons I have been able to evaluate the excellent rise of the [MV Agusta] F4 RC and I am sure we will be able to take some very positive results in 2018.”

“Thanks to Andrea Quadranti, Giovanni Castiglioni and MV Agusta for believing in me and my potential; I really look forward to riding this bike during the next tests.”
