2011 BMW R1200GS Triple Black

BMW has released details on its 2011 BMW R1200GS Triple Black, a limited edition GS that’s well…black. Showing us the Triple Black ahead of the bike’s official debut at the Milan EICMA show in two weeks time, the new GS is basically a combination of some black paint and BMW’s premium parts package for the R1200GS.

With sapphire black metallic paint, and murdered cross-spoke wheels, front forks, engine casings, the Triple Black is accented with asphalt grey metallic paint on the swingarm, rear sub-frame, and valve covers. BMW’s Premium Package includes Enduro Electronic Suspension Adjustment, heated grips, hand guards, anti-lock brakes, and pannier mounting points.

More Photos of the Roland Sands Design Ducati Diavel

Our good friends at Ducati News Today have released more photos of the Ducati Diavel that Roland Sands built at his Southern California shop. While this photo is RSD’s take on how the Diavel should look, Roland and his crew have made a variety of accessories and OEM parts that Ducati will carry for the Diavel when it officially launches. You’re not likely to hear Ducati brass tout the fact though, as they’ve tried to distance themselves from Roland Sand Design’s involvement — a misstep in our opinion. If anyone can connect the stodgy custom chopper market to a more hip and younger motorcycling audience, it’s Roland Sands Design, and Ducati could do well to associate themselves with the talent surrounding that firm.

Valentino Rossi Will Test with Ducati at Valencia

Announced during the Phillip Island press conference, Yamaha Racing has decided to release Valentino Rossi from his contractual obligations at the end of the MotoGP season, thus allowing the Italian rider to test with Ducati Corse during the testing sessions at Valencia, which follow immediately after the Valencian GP. While many in the MotoGP paddock expected Yamaha to come to this decision, it’s taken quite some time, and a lot of lobbying and consternation from Rossi to get the Japanese factory to see things his way.

Jesse James Closes Down West Coast Choppers

This one hits us out of the blue, but according to Cyril Huze, Jesse James has shutdown for good his custom chopper business: West Coast Choppers. If true, it’s not clear what will become of James’ Long Beach based company, but it looks like West Coast Choppers’ frames and parts will be produced by Daytec and Belt Drive LTD respectively, and sold through Custom Chrome. More info as we get it, but considering this news is hitting us during the weekend, we don’t expect to hear much before Monday.

Honda NRS250 Teased – The Moto3 Racer Cometh

Honda has begun teasing its NRS250 race bike, which many believe will be the basis to the company’s involvement in the Moto3 racing class that will replace 125GP racing in 2012. NRS stands for “Next Racing Standard”, not to be confused with NSR series of two-stroke machines from Honda (Editor’s note: Great naming convention, right?), and not much is known about the bike beyond these dark photos.
