It was just two months ago that we were talking about one of the latest build kits from Lego, as it was a Technic set for the Ducati Panigale V4 R (kit #42107).
As such, our love for the little Danish bricks should be well known, especially when it intersects our love for motorcycles.
Today, we again see nice overlap of those two worlds on the Venn diagram, as Lego artist Riccardo Zangelmi has created this 1:1 replica of the Ducati Panigale V4 R, in order to celebrate the launch of Ducati’s much smaller Lego kit offering.
The work, well…frankly it is pretty amazing. Zangelmi has basically recreated the bodywork of the Ducati Panigale V4 R – winglets and all – in Lego bricks, and then grafted them onto a rolling chassis straight from the Borgo Panigale factory.
The Lego model debuted today at the Autodromo di Modena, with the help of Ducati CEO Claudio Domenicali and Ducati Corse MotoGP rider Andrea Dovizioso. Zangelmi’s creation looks just like the real thing, with superb attention to detail.
“I am very happy because I never imagined I would be unveiling a bike like this,” said Andrea Dovizioso. “Almost everyone in our lives has played at least once with LEGO bricks, but seeing a replica of the Panigale V4 R up close is something incredible and another level.”
“I congratulate the LEGO artist Riccardo Zangelmi for making such a faithful and detailed replica of the Ducati motorcycle. Surely many will have fun riding it.”
The finished product took about 15,000 bricks to complete, and the life-sized model weighs 396 lbs (180 kg).
If you are interested in creating your own Ducati Panigale V4 R out of Lego bricks, you are going to want to budget at least 400 hours for the build time. At least, that is how long it took the professional.
