New Zealand Pricing for the Kawasaki Ninja ZX-25R Gives Us a Hint on What to Expect

It is surprising to us that Kawasaki has been so tight-lipped about its upcoming Ninja ZX-25R model.

It is not like the Japanese brand has been shy about talking about the Kawasaki Ninja ZX-25R, instead they just don’t seem to want to say anything of substance about the machine.

Maybe it is because we already know the most important aspect about the ZX-25R – namely that it has a 250cc four-cylinder engine that revs to the moon, along with traction control and other go-fast electronics.

That is enough to pique our interest (and seemingly everyone else’s), but Team Green has still been mum on certain details, like…availability, pricing, and technical specs (like horsepower).

Well, today we learned two things that we didn’t know before: the Kawasaki Ninja ZX-25R will come to New Zealand and it will cost $15,990 there.

For those doing the math, that price tag works out to be $10,400 in US dollars, though it is important to note that a bike like the Kawasaki Ninja 400 costs $9000 NZD ($5850 in USD), which is an $850 premium over the US pricing for the Ninja 400.

Still, this makes the Kawasaki Ninja ZX-25R an expensive option to those looking for some small-displacement fun in the land of kiwis. As such, the New Zealand importer for Kawasaki will only be using a pre-order process for buyers, and then only bringing in the bikes if a minimum order is met.

This means would-be buyers are going to have to commit to purchasing a motorcycle they know little about, which always going to be a tough ask.

Looking at what we do know though, we can see that the Kawasaki Ninja ZX-25R will come to the Japanese and Indonesian markets.

We would expect the bike to arrive at other Asian countries as well, especially those that have high taxes on larger displacement machines.

In the Japanese market, we know that Kawasaki plans to do a spec-series with the ZX-25R, as a sort of talent cup. The North American markets are almost certainly not going to get the ZX-25R though, which seems like a miss to us.

So, here is the question: if Kawasaki offered the Ninja ZX-25R in the USA for $10,000, would you buy it? Just for giggles, we have embedded a survey below, to see your response.
