The Ducati Monster lineup will grow by another model for the 2023 model year, as the Italian brand has announced the new Ducati Monster SP for next year.

Available in January 2023, the Ducati Monster SP boasts Öhlins suspension, Brembo Stylema calipers, and a homologated Termignoni exhaust amongst other key features.

With a price tag of $15,595 MSRP for the USA, the Monster SP commands a $2,900 price difference over the lesser-spec’d Monster+.

That extra coin gets you the above-mentioned goodies, along with a “MotoGP inspired” livery, lithium-ion battery, and a steering damper. All told, the Monster SP is just under 5 lbs lighter than its cheaper sibling.

Other differences include a less-powerful “Wet” mode is added to the throttle mapping modes as well, with the 937cc Testastretta 11° engine still making 111hp at full power. Ducati says that the other riding modes have also be recalibrated,

That makes for a potent package that goes head-to-head with bikes like the KTM 890 Duke R and Triumph Street Triple RS. Ducati is taking the high road against its European competitors, which is an interesting spot to be in this more budget-focused space.

But, for those riders who are looking for something a little more premium in the category, and all the performance pieces that are commonly associated with the Ducati name, then the Monster SP seems to fit the bill.

We imagined the machine will be a bit sportier than its already peppy “lesser” compatriot, though Ducati’s roadster lineup is still a bit “interesting” right now.

That being said, the Bologna brand has a number of new bikes still to announced for next year.
