Bold New Graphics Come to the 2022 KTM 890 Duke R

KTM made a big deal about the month of February, teasing not one, but two new KTM 890 Duke motorcycles that were coming soon.

One of those bikes was the 2022 KTM 890 Duke R, while the other is a new trim-level, the KTM 890 Duke GP.

While we will have to wait and see what makes an 890 Duke a “GP” bike (we’re guessing a bellypan some other track bits), today we get to see what the fuss is all about with the 2022 KTM 890 Duke R

And frankly, we are disappointed in what we have to report to you with this story…

For the 2022 model year, it looks like just bold new graphics for the KTM 890 Duke R, with the “super scalpel” (KTM’s words, not ours) getting the same “Atlantic Blue” that is used on the KTM 1290 Super Duke R.

This means the same 890cc twin-cylinder engine, making 119hp (89 kW) with 73 lbs•ft (99 Nm) of torque, all packaged into a bike that weighs 365 lbs (166 kg) with its claimed dry weight.

While we are a bit disappointed that today’s big announcement was just a color refresh, Asphalt & Rubber still rates the KTM 890 Duke R as one of the best sport bikes on the market.

We hope the upcoming reveal of the KTM 890 Duke GP is a bit more fruitful, especially for our track-loving readers.
