Are You The 2013 Kawasaki Ninja ZX-6R?

UPDATE: The folks at TMCBlog seem to have some screen grabs from a walk-around video with the new ZX-6R. More photos attached after the jump.

Kawasaki only has a few more days until its big launch in New York City’s Times Square, so depending on how you look at it, Team Green has only a few more days to keep its new bikes under wraps, or Team Green has only a few more days to leak out hype-building photos of its new bikes. We’ll let you make the call on that issue, but today’s big Kawasaki news is a leaked photo of what appears to be the 2013 Kawasaki Ninja ZX-6R.

Expected to be a 636cc machine, something the brand experimented with circa 2003, the Kawasaki Ninja ZX-6R seen here is drawing heavily from the ZX-10R’s aesthetic, as has been the case with the redesigned Kawasaki Ninja 250R as well. We will have to wait until Wednesday for the official details of the ZX-6R to drop, but expect the new supersport Ninja to have 129 peak horsepower for the American market and optional ABS brakes.

  • What about the 800 when will you get some thing on that? Will it come to the US? Thx.

  • Manx plates with “636 ZX-6R”? About as discrete and subtle as a political convention.

I really like it! I am still on the fence though. I’ve been waiting to see what the YZF-R6, GSX-R600, CBR600-RR are going to look like and spec out to. Also wondering if Ducati will be releasing a 849 Panigale?

Will this mean a 600cc ZX6-RR Homologation special as well?!? Had a 2004 model and it was quite a machine…

Plus, Homologation specials are always dripping with tasty bits. I sure hope so!

Well I must say I was expecting worse.. Doesn’t look nearly half as bad as the current shape ZX10R.. even if it does borrow some of its styling points. Still only appears to be a moderate re-styling job and not a whole new bike compared to the previous model. And why raise the capacity to 636? Doesn’t this cause eligibility issues for racing in Supersport 600 classes etc etc?

So the top of the tank comes pre-dented for the stunting crowd?

I thought about it too and said NAH…but after thinking how there’s the Yamaha FZ8 maybe they think it will make a bussiness case in the USA ?
I have to say, i don’t see that many FZ8s on the street to begin with…sooooo…yeah, it could be a 50/50 chance of us seeing it.

I think that Baby Panigale is still like 2 years away yet (if the thing even exists)…happily wishing to be dead wrong on that. I too im waiting for the other OEMs to do something about this “refreshed” ZX-6R.

I don’t think they will come thru with your dream. I think other countries will march on with the old 600cc mill under new skins (insurance, pricing, stepped licensing ?)…so no need for the RR. All this is pure conjecture of my part…take it with lots of salt.

No, it just makes it easier to tuck in your helmet’s shin…smaller front area, less aero drag, etc.
