As of this writing, the official death toll in the United States from COVID-19 deaths stands at 86,248 souls. This is truly a devastating time for our country, both in the loss of life, and the effects it is having on our society.

To provide relief to this pandemic, Harley-Davidson is teaming up with auction house Bonhams to offer a special one-of-a-kind Livewire motorcycle, and all of the proceeds (excluding taxes and fees) from the auction will be donated to United Way Worldwide’s COVID-19 Community Response and Recovery Fund.

The auction will be held online by Bonhams, from Tuesday, May 12th, 2020 thru Tuesday, May 26th, 2020 , and is available to only for participants from the United States.

Ever heard of Guardian Bells? They are these little novelty bells that you affix to your motorcycle to ward off “Evil Road Spirits.” You know, because nothing terrifies demonic spirits more than a little tinkle from the back end of your v-twin.

Well whoever was the marketing “genius” behind the Guardian Bell has nothing on the hustle of Pope Francis. The current leader of the Catholic Church, and champion of the oppressed and downtrodden, recently sent his signed 2013 Harley-Davidson Dyna Super Glide to auction along with its companion leather jacket.

So what is a papal-blessed cruiser worth? The bike and jacket sold for roughly $329,000 at auction in Paris at the Bonhams auction house.

As we gear up for our Pebble Beach Concours d’Elegance coverage this weekend, we’ve got old classic motorcycles on the brain this week at Asphalt & Rubber. So fittingly enough we learn today that the last Brough Superior SS100 ever to be made from the Nottingham, England factory is about to be put up for auction this week as well.

Made famous by T. E. Lawrence (Lawrence of Arabia owned seven Brough Superiors in his lifetime, and even died riding an SS100), the Brough Superior SS100 is a historic and iconic piece of two-wheeled history. With only 71 examples of this motorcycle known to still be in existence, this particular SS100 up for acution is not only rare, but being the last of its ilk, is fairly special as well.
