Last week, in what was an apparently frigid outdoor press call and party, Althea Racing showed off its new 2011 livery. The bike, ridden by Carlos Checa in next season’s World Superbike championship, showcased more red than the team’s livery last season, with “Althea” and most of the blue having disappeared from the bike entirely. While main sponsor Unibat, a battery company, kept its name placement from the 2010 season’s livery, quite a bit of what had been white on the bike was filled in with Ducati red. So much so, the 2011 livery could nearly be mistaken for the 2010 Ducati Xerox livery.

Althea will use the same livery on the Ducati, ridden by Lorenzo Baroni, in both the Superstock 1000 and Italian Superbike championship. According to the team in its press release, “The presentation of Althea Racing’s Ducati gave added value to an already impressive line-up of bikes”, commented Team Principle Luigi Termignoni. ‘The Italian motorcycle manufacturer has always participated in SBK and we are proud to be able to equip Genesio Bevilacqua’s Ducati outfit in 2011.”

When Ducati released its Corse themed Superbikes at Milan last year, we knew the Italian company was onto something special. With ample carbon fiber, aluminum tanks, and a tasteful amount white and red paint, the Corse livery sets itself apart from the rest of the Ducati line as being the pinnacle of the Italian company’s offering.

So when we saw the “Corse” Multistrada 1200S that took place in Pikes Peak, we were equally excited, and begged Ducati North America to make a race replica model (we’re still begging them by the way). While Ducati might take a little more convincing, some owners have taken things into their own hands. Enter into the picture Finishing Touch 4U‘s Ducati Streetfighter Corse.

Just as Fiat-Yamaha will be running special race livery this weekend, Valentino Rossi had some one-off paint work done to his helmet for MotoGP’s race at Laguna Seca. For Fiat-Yamaha, the Laguna Race livery consists of the faces of 500 fans who submitted their photos to the race team, but on Rossi’s helmet you’ll find the people that help him go fast: his team.

You can also find Rossi’s dogs near the back, and while it hasn’t been confirmed…the fellow above the AGV on the front looks a lot like Ron Jeremy (whoever that is).

It’s not that new Suzuki MotoGP livery is bad, it’s just well…sort of what you’d expect from Suzuki’s factory racing team. When we first heard that Troy Lee Designs was going to give the old Rizla Blue the once over, we were excited to see what the talented company could come up with in the go fast/look good department.

Yet as we look at these pictures, we wonder what happened in the process. Powder blue? Check. Big Rizla Letters? Check. Nothing else that’s remote eye-catching? Check. We sure hope the Suzuki GSV-R performs better than it looks, but we’re not holding our breath. Check out the rest of the photos after the jump.

Paginas Amarillas Aspar Team, the MotoGP team headed by Jorge “Aspar” Martinez, has just released it’s livery for the 2010 season. Now we’ve seen Ducati’s in yellow racing trim before, and it was no big deal. But for some reason, this goldenrod Ducati Desmosedici just doesn’t look quite right, and unfortunately for Aspar’s rider Hector Barbera, we’re starting the short bus jokes as of right now. Rizla Suzuki has announced that it is teaming up with Troy Lee Designs, tasking the American design firm with the duty of making new race livery for the MotoGP race team. Troy Lee Designs will also be making the leather race suits for Loris Capirossi and Alvaro Bautista, along with the team’s pit-box, hospitality units, and team clothing and merchandise. Expect to see the new brand changes at the Qatar Test during March 17-19th.

Ben Spies is gearing up for a weekend in the Spanish city of Valencia, as MotoGP makes its last stop of the 2009 season. Appropriately, Yamaha is also getting ready for the addition of Ben Spies into the Tech3 Yamaha garage. Since Spies isn’t officially on the Tech3 team yet, special racing livery is needed for the weekend, and Yamaha has released his full racing kit ahead of the weekend’s races.
