The new bike season is starting to heat up, and the zenith is only a few weeks away. I am of course talking about the EICMA show in Milan.

As such, the Germans are gearing up for a big show in Italy this year, with an all-new booth design, and more importantly, four new motorcycles to showcase.

We know this, because BMW Motorrad told us so in a press release, but the real information we are craving is which bikes we will see in Milan, and for that, we have some strong guesses.

It looks like we are close to seeing the rumored BMW F850RS debut (likely later this year, at the EICMA show in November), as design patent drawings have surfaced showing a parallel-twin version of the RS series.

The bike looks visually quite close to the BMW 9cento concept that debut roughly a year ago in Italy, though with much more subdued lines than that adventure-sport offered.

While we expected the 9cento to usher in a new bigger motor, the final design seems to rest on the updated 850cc parallel-twin engine that has been injecting some character and life into BMW Motorrad’s middleweight lineup.

Is a new middleweight bike coming from BMW Motorrad? That’s the debate on the internet right now, as the company’s UK office has released the above language to dealers via a  brochure.

Not so fast says BMW Motorrad UK though. While a sport-touring version of the F850 platform would be a pretty interesting model, the company says that the use of the “F850RS” handle was a mistake, and they instead meant to use “F850GT” in the brochure’s text.

Honest mistake? Freudian slip? A sign from the Flying Spaghetti Monster (All Hail His Noodliness!)…well, that is up for you to decide.
