The “Pikes Peak” Ducati Multistrada V4 Is Coming Tomorrow

Ducati is in the middle of its months long teaser/unveiling program for its 2022 model year machines, and tomorrow morning marks our third installment.

Lucky for us, the Italians have dropped enough hints on what we are about to see, though ironically some of the key details still allude us.

What we do know is that we will see the debut of what has been called the “Pikes Peak” edition of the Ducati Multistrada V4. Will the bike actually use that moniker though? That remains to be seen.

From spy photos, we do know that the bike has a single-sided swingarm, and rocks 17″ wheels front and back. We can also guess that it will have a shorter windscreen and some other go-fast bits, like an Akrapovic slip-on exhaust.

How far those changes will go though is another mystery.

Will this be a simple massaging of the current Multistrada V4 (as has been done in the past)? Or, has Borgo Panigale made significant changes to the Multistrada V4 platform to make a potent sporty touring machine?

The fact that the teaser video (above) shows a race track invites ideas that it could be more of the latter, but we will have to wait and see for confirmation.

From the teaser photo (below), we can see the indistinguishable LED headlight from the Multistrada V4, and we can see the square cutout where the adaptive cruise control sensor mounts.

We can also see that the peak of the bike’s beak is made from carbon fiber, all of which confirms our suspcions on which bike we will see at tomorrow’s unveiling.

Will this sportier Multistrada V4 share the same Granturismo V4 motor as its sibling? Or will Ducati use the Desmosedici Stradale V4 power plant that is found in the Streetfighter V4? Both would be interesting choices, for different reasons.

As you can tell, there is much potential that is possible with this Ducati Multistrada V4 variant. We have less than 24hrs to see what Ducati has been cooking. Stay tuned.
