Faulty Spring Causes Triumph Thruxton Recall

Another recall from Triumph Motorcycles America, this one affects 3,244 units of certain Triumph Thruxton motorcycles – specifically the 2016-2018 Thruxton, 2016-2019 Thruxton R and 2020 Thruxton TFC.

The recall concerns the bikes’ kickstand spring, which may fracture and possibly allow the kickstand switch to activate and shut off the engine. If this occurs while riding the motorcycle, it could lead to the rider crashing, hence the recall.

Interestingly, recall documents state that the fracturing of the spring comes from a frequency resonance on the motorcycle, when the kickstand is in the “up” position on the bike.

To remedy the issue, Triumph will notify affected Thruxton owners, and Triumph dealers will replace the kickstand spring with one that has a rubber housing, free of charge. This recall is expected to begin February 10, 2020.

Concerned Thruxton owners may contact Triumph customer service at 1-678-854-2010. Triumph’s number for this recall is SRAN 570.
