Royal Enfield North America is recalling 4,403 units of its Continental GT 650 and Interceptor 650 motorcycles, made between 2018 and 2020.
The issue stems from the brake calipers, which can become corroded when exposed to road salt.
This corrosion causes damage to the brake caliper piston bore and assemblies, and can result in unusual braking sound, increased brake drag, unusual difficulty in pushing the motorcycle manually, and may impact braking action.
Because corroded brake calipers may cause the brakes to drag or decrease braking performance, a recall was issued.
According to recall documents, Royal Enfield has received no reports or complaints from its dealers or customers related to this issue.
Despite this, Royal Enfield has decided to voluntarily launch this recall in the very rare instance that it may occur with its motorcycles.
