With all the headlines about the coronavirus that inundate our social stream, I don’t think it’s a big stretch to assume that you would like to talk about anything but a virus on the pages of Asphalt & Rubber.
Let us talk then about a different kind of viral outbreak, the Vyrus Alyen. The latest creation from the boutique Italian house of two-wheels, Vyrus has taken the 1,285cc Ducati Superquadro v-twin engine, wedged it into their hub-center steering chassis, and well…the bodywork is unlike anything on the market.
A direct competitor to the Bimota TesiH2, this radical Italian sport bike offers 202hp on tap from its superbike engine, but we think it will be the radical styling that will move the units.
Where do we start with analyzing this machine? The looks are going to be polarizing, for sure, but you have to respect the bold moves that Vyrus makes with its models.
The exhaust looks like an evolution to what we saw on the Vyrus 982 M2, and then there’s the unique headlight and composite handguards with integrated turnsignals.
The bodyworks appears to be all carbon fiber, as one would expect. So are the wheels, which are the new forged “Bullet” carbon units from Rotobox. The frame is made of magnesium, in Vyrus’s “double -omega” configuration, which is built directly off the motor.
Stopping power comes from the Brembo GP4 series, though we are sure that Vyrus would be happy to spec this out to a customer’s desire. The similar can likely be said for the suspension, though it is hard to see what Vyrus is using for its promo pics – Öhlins, we would presume.
Price? We have no idea. But, if you have to ask…
