Bold New Euro5 Comes to the Ducati Hypermotard 950 for 2022

One of our favorite bikes is getting a modest update for the 2022 model year, as the Ducati Hypermotard 950 SP is getting some bold new graphics to match its new Euro5 compliant v-twin engine.

For those models that will be landing in Europe, the entire Hypermotard 950 range will be Euro5 compliant, but the Italians say that the peak power and torque figures for the Ducati Hypermotard family will remain at 113hp (84 kW) and 71 lbs•ft (98 Nm).

Other technical changes include some modifications to the gearbox in order to make it easier to find a neutral gear selection.

To achieve this, Ducati added a gearshift drum that rotates on bearings, which allows less friction during movement. Also, the gear lever spring is more loaded to prevent the system from resting in-between gear positions, making for a more precise feel.

Of course, the more noticeable change is the new MotoGP-inspired livery which pulls inspiration from the Ducati Desmosedici GP21.

It is a lovely look, meant to distract you from the new price tag of $17,495 MSRP (+$300 over the 2021 model year machines) for the SP model. For that kind of money, we would hope to see semi-active suspension featured on the machine.

However, the base model gets a more modest $100 price hike for 2022, and puts the smiles on faces just as well. Enjoy the two-wheeled hooliganary below, and take a Hyper out for a test ride – you’ll enjoy it.
