Suzuki GSX-R1000 Red & Black Commemorative Edition

Suzuki already has a classic blue and white commemorative livery for its GSX-R line of motorcycles, but today at the Indianapolis GP, the Japanese brand debuted another commemorative edition of the Suzuki GSX-R1000, this time in red & black.

While the blue and white livery has become the more traditional colors for Suzuki and its GSX-R sport bikes, it was the red and black GSX-R750 machines of Yoshimura Suzuki that dominated the Suzuka 8-Hour in 1986, the first year of the bike’s debut.

All of this is to celebrate 30 years of GSX-R sport bikes, and as such in addition to the special livery, each bike sold will have a “30 Years of Performance” badge on its fuel tank, along with a special wheel-stripe.

Suzuki is digging deep into its history this year to celebrate 30 years of GSX-R. However, we think that the real hope from fans of the brand would be a proper update to the GSX-R line.

Something that would put Suzuki and the GSX-R1000 back on top of the superbike heap, a place it long held, but hasn’t in recent memory.
