The 2019 EICMA show hasn’t even started yet, and already we have our first bike debut. Say hello to the new MV Agusta Brutale 1000 RR, the Italian brand’s newest naked bike that the rest of us can afford.
Based off the well-received MV Agusta Brutale 1000 Serie Oro, which debuted last year, the RR model brings the same basic streetfighter design to market, but without the über-exclusive price tag that matched.
This means a 205hp (153 kW) inline-four engine, that is based on the motor found in the MV Agusta F4 superbike, which makes 86 lbs•ft of torque.
Still with all the carbon fiber bits and bobs, the Brutale 1000 RR still keeps a similar weight as before, tipping the scales at 410 lbs (186 kg) when dry. To account for that 5 lbs weight difference, the Brutale 1000 RR uses aluminum wheels and steel bolts, whereas the Serie Oro uses carbon wheels and titanium bolts.
We can see that the winglet shrouds around the radiator remain from the Serie Oro design, as do the electronic Öhlins suspension pieces fore and aft.
Other features include a 5″ TFT dash, a robust electronics package that is assisted by an IMU, and up/down quickshifter, and LED lights all around (complete with cornering lights).
Brembo Stylema calipers complete the package up front, and are mated to dual 320mm discs. We are also pleased to see forged aluminum wheels being used.
All-in-all, where the “RR” model has usually been a fairly cheap affair for MV Agusta, this time around the Italian brand has left some meat on the bones for the base model offering.
We can see why though, as pricing for the USA has been set a $31,998 MSRP, while in Europe the 2020 MV Agusta Brutale 1000 RR will cost you €30,000.
With MV Agusta clearly trying to take the high road on its model lineup, it will be interesting to see how the Brutale 1000 RR goes on the road when compared to that other Italian brand down the street, which also has a 205hp streetfighter for sale in 2020.
