there’s views from all angles but the best is the one from behind, dani would have struggled to have made that corner online, ok it was a hard move by marco,but not dirty,at the point of contact he was as far ahead as most riders who are not penalised,and where he was would put him at an advantage for the upcoming right hander, who’s the dangerous rider??? the rider who goes into a corner with his rear wheel skiping off the track? or the rider who had taken a wider line with plenty of room between himself and the other rider, and having both wheels in contact with the ground at all times in that corner???
Dani was the one who took the chance to pass on the straight, he screwed the pooch when he realized he started braking to early, then not enough, then to run into the back of Simoncelli. Yes Simo could have left more room, with that said, its just as easy pedrosa could have taken Simo out too at that point.
@gaztl1000r: Yea true. But if Dani was running in too hot and out of control, then why didnt Marco perform a cut back manouver to take him on the inside, as Pedrosa was going to run wide. Or even as Rossi stated, he should have waited and lined up an attempt on the next lap, used a bit of tactical thinking or patience. The onboard and front shot footage show Marco cutting infront from the outside, leaving Pedrosa no where to go. Front wheel hits Marco’s bike, standing Pedrosa’s bike up and then he crashes into him.
@76: He took an outside line that then cut back in on Pedrosa. He knew Pedrosa would be on the inside, where else would he be? Rossi says Simoncelli needs to “ride smarter” as it were, and it does make complete sense. Pedrosa’s races before this one is a perfect example, waiting for the right moment to pounce.
MCN had a good frame by frame of the SIC pass… If you look at PEDs head he never looks through the turn at all – he was never going to make it, regardless of how much room SIC could have left.
Pedrosa’s foot was not on the pegs while Simoncelli’s knee was on the ground. Pedrosa was hot and not in control. Simoncelli was faster, smoother, and established his lean into that corner before Pedrosa ever did…
