IOMTT Looking for Race Promoter for International Series

The Isle of Man government is looking for an independent promoter that wishes to organize and commercialize the Isle of Man TT and Classic TT races, as well as develop a new global Isle of Man TT styled series.

This international “TT Series” would have road racing rounds that take place around the world, with the season culminating at the Isle of Man TT.

As a part of the deal, the Isle of Man will will license all commercial aspects of the TT events to the promoter, including domestic and international television and broadcast rights, sponsorship, licensing, hospitality, event ticketing, merchandising, and retail sales.

In exchange, the chosen promoter will be responsible for operating the Isle of Man TT and Classic TT, jointly with the Isle of Man government. The promoter will also be responsible for independently contracting with individual host cities to deliver the “TT Series” events across the world.

The request for promoter interest is a huge step for the Isle of Man, and for the Isle of Man TT, especially as the iconic race attempts to gain more international recognition.

Road racing is a huge draw for the small island nation, and while the Isle of Man TT and Classic TT have been growing in attendance and international prestige, the Isle of Man government is looking for more ways to grow and expand its unique events in other markets.

An international series could be a good way for the Isle of Man to leverage the brand of its namesake race, as well as establishing an international opportunity for the racers and sponsors who support involved with the TT.

The question will be though, what promoter wants to undertake such a large venture, especially when its tied to such a dangerous sport. Time will tell.
