IOMTT: McGuinness Makes It 19 after the Superstock TT John McGuinness Honda TT Legends pit1 635x425

The 2012 Isle of Man TT is shaping up to be a good fortnight for Mr. John McGuinness, as the King of the Mountain has claimed another TT race victory with the Royal London 360 Superstock TT race. Again making his lead in the first lap, McGuinness rode an uncontested race for the four lap TT, getting his 19th TT race win with a comfortable 8 second margin.

It wasn’t all easy street for McPint though, as Ryan Farquhar was only 0.17 seconds behind McGuinness after the first lap, though the Padgett’s Honda rider was able to stretch that lead out over the second lap, and gain even more of an advantage in the sole pitstop of the race.

With 10 seconds over Michael Dunlop at the start of the third lap, Farquhar’s pace couldn’t hold to the Irishman’s surge on the fourth and final lap, and the privateer would have to settle for third place — just barely holding off Bruce Anstey.

Anstey would best Guy Martin, who again couldn’t seem to make progress on his winless TT streak. Lapping third on the first lap, Martin slipped backwards through the field to finish a disappointing fifth for the day. Teammate and local hero, Conor Cummins was again a scratch for today’s races.

With McGuinness favored in Friday’s Pokerstars Senior TT, and the Mugen Shinden a contender in the SES TT Zero, there is a serious chance that the man from Morecambe could leave the fortnight with 20 career TT wins or more. 1. Faust says:

The Padgett’s and Wilson Craig Hondas are making a really strong showing this year. Go Honda! I wonder how Guy is enjoying that Suzuki….

  2. Damo says:

So good to see McGuinness continue to dominate the mountain!

  3. holy f*ck man!

    and everyone blame the Fireblades………………………………………………………..

  4. Faust says:

It’s not a matter of blaming the Hondas, but clearly there is a difference. I mean, who here would say that Hutchy can’t run laps at these speeds? Obviously he is capable of doing it, but while Padgett’s Hondas are tearing up the course, Hutchy is talking about how his R1 is having handling issues. McGuinness is great and I’m taking nothing away from him, but if Valentino Rossi has taught us anything over the past 2 years, it’s that a great rider on a less capable bike isn’t as competative. Blaming the Fireblades? Of course, he’s not running the course on foot, so why not mention the bike?

  5. Kyle says:

Just courious. How many other people have ever won the TT 20+ times??

  6. Faust says:

Joey Dunlop is the only one over 20 with the record at 26 TT wins. McGuinness is second place all time. Both are in the TT Hall of Fame.

everyone blame the Blades because S1000RR, Panigale and ZX-10R are better bikes, so…

  8. Faust says:

And none of those bikes have proven themselves to be superior in road racing so….
