Ducati North America Has Record Sales Year in 2015

Ducati North America is reporting a record year for sales, selling 12,132 motorcycles in 2015 – this number includes all Ducati sales in the USA (9,674 units, +10%), Canada (1,458 units, +12%), and Mexico (1,003 units, +85%).

The news is perhaps not surprising, since Ducati sales grew globally by 22% last year, for a total of 54,800 motorcycle sold in 2015.

Ducati North America’s numbers continue a six-year trend of solid sales growth, with last year’s sales being fueled primarily by the Ducati Scrambler.

Ducati North America isn’t breaking down sales by machine, though it does say that behind the Scrambler, the 899 Panigale and Monster 821 were top-sellers in the region. In the USA, it says that the 1299 Panigale and Multistrada 1200 were “sales standouts” for the country.

All of that is fairly loose information though, and we would suspect sales trends in the North America to be similar to what we saw globally from the Italian brand – namely, sales growth coming from the Scrambler, while the other models languished.

“Our success in North America is the result of the hard work of the entire Ducati organization and our network of dedicated dealers,” said Dominique Cheraki, the outgoing CEO of Ducati North America. “I am proud of what we have collectively achieved during the past five years of my tenure and I’m enthusiastic of what the future holds for the brand.”

Ducati North America hopes that growth in 2016 will be fueled by the Multistrada 1200 Enduro and XDiavel, the latter of which is a machine we will be riding later this week. The XDiavel should be in dealers “early this Spring” while the Multistrada 1200 Enduro will arrive in April, according to Ducati.

Leading Ducati North America in 2016 is Jason Chinnock. “It’s a tremendous honor and responsibility to lead Ducati North America into the next chapter,” said Chinnock.

“We have a clear objective to continue the growth of our brand in a manner that delivers a premium experience to our owners and profitable business for our dealer partners.”

“I am confident that we have a strong internal management team. This, coupled with an outstanding dealer network and a tremendous product offering, will give us the ability to fully capitalize on the opportunity in this market.”
