What happens when you take a Ducati Diavel and raid the Ducati Performance parts bin? You get the 2013 Ducati Diavel Strada. After seeing the 2013 Ducati Hyperstrada, it is clear that the Bologna Brand has touring on the brain, and thought that the Diavel should get some extra attention at this year’s EICMA show (although, maybe not as much as the 2013 Ducati Hypermotard, 2013 Ducati Hyperstrada, & 2013 Ducati 1199 Panigale R).

Designed with longer trips in mind, the Diavel Strada features improved wind protection, higher handlebars (15mm) that are also swept farther back (60mm) making for a more comfortable sitting position. Other additions include a gel seat and heated grips, as well as two auxiliary power outlets that are fed by a higher-output generator. For the pillion, a backrest has been included, and of course there is 41 liters of side luggage available.

Not exactly our cup of tea, but then again we have never been a big fan of the Diavel’s styling (riding the beast is a whole different matter though), but we imagine there are some would-be Diavel owners who would jump at the chance to tour on Ducati’s sport-cruiser. Photos and video after the jump for you intrepid souls.

Ducati must be running thin on talent in their marketing-speak department – first it was Hypermotard (even to this day – ‘Really?’), then there’s the Multistrada x HM bastard child Hyperstrada, and now we get the Diavel Strada (not that Diavel is a greatly original name to begin with)…

What would we get if Ducati decides to cross breed the Hyper x Diavel and make it in a touring version? We proudly present the Diaper Strada…

  2. Rolo Tommassi says:

While I don’t disagree with your comments about names entirely, the “thin” talent is obviously doing many things right and the good is to create brand identity, which they have. The fault can not be with them to capitalize on the success of the Multi_strada_.

  3. John says:

Kill it with fire! That thing is hideous… And I actually kinda dig the original Diavel.

  4. Johan Schoofs says:

Absolutely horrible. What are the Ducati designers smoking these days?

  5. shallwedance? says:

well they’ve made a complete bollocks of that

  6. meatspin says:

    i kinda like it.

  7. Richard Gozinya says:

It’s not completely horrible, though it seems like a parts bin special to me, even moreso than one of those Harley factory customs. They didn’t even bother giving it a bigger fuel tank, which would have given it some credibility as a touring machine. The whole thing just comes across as half-assed to me. Maybe if they’d gone more the Norge/Stelvio/Griso route it would make more sense.

  8. Gutterslob says:

Eeek!!…. and I thought the standard Diavel was ugly.

  9. Andrew says:

So what’s next for 2014? A Pannigale Strada maybe?

  10. niko says:

2014? panigale motard or hyperdiavel.. gone are the days of 916 glory
