Video: Nissan GT-R vs. Ducati 1098S

Which is faster, bike or car? The debate has gone on for ages and the folks at Autocar have revisited the issue with this comparison video. Taking one of our favorite sports cars, the Nissan Skyline GT-R, and pitting it against the Bologna Bullet better known as the Ducati 1098S, we get to see some impressive results from both vehicles. Make your pick now, and see who won the track battle after the jump.

With this comparison made over a year ago, we wonder how a Desmosedici RR or 1198S would have faired…we guess the battle rages on.

That was awfully fun to watch. Was that Rob Barber on the Ducati?

  • froryde

    That’d be Rob Hoyles: http://www.robhoyles.com/

(you can see his name mentioned at 00:19 and also by the letter on the back of his suit).

Thanks for the info. I just heard “Rob” and who can read his suit when he’s burning up the road?

instead of making a commercial for ducati, what if they used the best “liter” bike out there, the CBR1000RR?

I agree, the duc isn’t exactly the best all out road course bike but a very nice example of a comparison. Get a good liter bike as noted and I think the outcome would have changed. But, then again, get another car like the Corvette ZR1 and I think it would have reversed it back in favor of the car.

The nurburgring lap times don’t much in the way of motorcycles since they quit back in the middle 80’s but they did in fact run a very heavily prepped 600 there and it would have just barely beat the stock ZR1. The CBR1000RR they tested (in 07) would have had it’s butt handed to it with a much slower time.

why settle for the ZR1? …use the new viper ACRx and annihilate the bike!

So….the 1098 can beat a Lamborghini Gallardo on the British show 5th Gear, but not a GTR? Doubt it. The video is cut right before the car “passes”.

    Rider error. Beautiful video though.

The biggest driver (excuse the pun) of the outcome is probably the wet track. On a dry track it would be very close.

Hmmm, dollar for dollar the bike is a way better deal in regards to performance. I’d bet a cheaper Asian 1000 bike would do better than the Ducati. How would you spend your money?
