Video: Circus Motorcycle Jump Goes Horribly Wrong

Performing at the Shrine Circus in Saginaw, Michigan, a motorcycle jump goes horribly wrong under the big top. There’s some not so safe for work audio from the audience member who took this video, but you’ve got to hand it to the circus’ ringmaster for keeping the crowd calm and the situation under control. We are happy to report that the rider in question survived the incident, and only suffered a broken femur from his 25 foot fall. Investigators believe a wire may have been hung too low in the circus tent (not to state the obvious).

Give me grassroots motorcycling; this guy’s fifteen minutes of fame was reduced to thirty-one seconds. Tragic. “Somebody scream!” You got it, Ringmaster Richard.

  2. AK says:

did’nt they practice or do trial before actually performing in front of Audience?

  3. SicSemper says:

Another thought has since come to mind- I think the “victim” very fortunate; it seems to me that decapitation or near-so could have easily been a different outcome. That would have been very “sensational”.

  4. Patron says:

Sooo…is that circus relying on doctors being present in the audience? Don’t they have trained medical staff on hand at all times?

  5. Jesus Christ that made me cringe. Thank God he was wearing full safety gear, that could have easily ended far worse.

  6. Ouch! Glad to hear the guy’s ok – that hurt just to watch.
