Video: The Crash That Red Flagged Valencia

The clock is ticking on how long this video will last (although WSBK is noticably better about social media this season compared to last year), but here is what little footage that shows the Simon Andrews/Vittorio Iannuzzo crash from Race 2 at Valencia. Both riders were invovled in an incident down the Valencian front straight on the 4th lap of the race. With Andrews being thrown into the pit wall, and Iannuzzo collapsing off his bike further down the track, race officials made the prudent decision to flag the race moments later. WSBK: Red Flagged Race 2 Ends With Narrow Victory

After an early race crash that saw the red flagging of Race 2, the second race at Valencia had to be restarted and decided under aggregate time. With only a few hundreths of a second deciding the race winner, there certainly was plenty of race drama finishing out the Spanish stop in the WSBK tour. With some surprise finishers in this race, you’ll be disappointed if you didn’t see it yourself.

WSBK: Landslide During Race 1 at Valencia

World Superbike headed to Valencia, Spain this weekend for the third round of the WSBK season. With a strong Superpole by Cal Crutchlow, all eyes were on the Sterilgarda Yamaha to see if a surprise victory would occur. With the Championship heating up as riders are vetted into place, Valenica would prove to be a battlefield this weekend with more than one rider firing a warning shot across the proverbial bows of their competitors, signaling their intention to compete.

WSBK: Valencia Sees Cal Crutchlow Take His Second Superpole of the Season

While the MotoGP season kicks off this weekend, World Superbike is making its third stop of the 2010 season, this time at Valencia Spain. Winning his second Superpole of the season, Cal Crutchlow from Yamaha Sterilgarda put his Yamaha R1 into the #1 position. Followed by town favorite Carlos Checa (2nd) and Max Biaggi (3rd). The trio of riders have been very strong so far this year, which the same cannot be said for the factory-backed Xerox Ducati team. Both Haga (11th) and Fabrizio (10th) found themselves knocked out of qualifying after Superpole 2.

Vermeulen Missing Valencia – Back at Assen Round

After discovering his knee injury to be more extensive than previously though, Christopher Vermeulen will miss World Superbike’s stop at Valencia this weekend, but is expected to be back on the saddle at Assen. Vermeulen injured his knee during a bad highside at Phillip Island, and was unable to rejoin the series at Portimao despite making an attempt during the free practice. As such, it looks like the Australian rider will be replaced this weekend at Valencia.

Video: FB Corse FB01 Triple at the Valencian Pit

Despite not making the entry list into the 2010 MotoGP season (yet?), we have to admit it’s a welcomed sound to hear a triple taking off from the pits at Valencia. We here at Asphalt & Rubber were big fans of the Aprilia RS3 Cube, despite its propensity to catch fire. And while FB Corse may have drawn our ire for less than truthful media communications, their Oral Engineering designed three cylinder motor leaves us hoping the team can get their act together and make it into MotoGP so we can continue to hear its throaty tune. FB Corse Denied Entry into MotoGP

Hopes were dashed in Valencia today as FB Corse was denied the opportunity to enter the 2010 MotoGP series with the rest of the field at Qatar on April 11th. The FB Corse team was at the Spanish track the past few days testing their FB01 race bike with Garry McCoy at the helm. Today being the final day of testing, representatives from Dorna and the IRTA were on hand to assess the condition of the FB Corse team and bike, and to make a determination as to whether they would be included in the 2010 series. Despite all of the media hype, Dorna’s Franco Uncini’s determined the team was not ready for MotoGP, but could maybe enter the series midway through if they where then ready.

FB Corse To Prove Its Mettle at Valencia Test

The day has come for FB Corse to make its big track debut, and also to prove to Dorna and the IRTA that they have what it takes to race in MotoGP. This March 15th thru 17th will see the Italian team take to the track at Valencia, where they will have their first track shakedown.

In attendance March 17th will be Dorna’s Franco Uncini and an IRTA representative. The purpose of these men is to assess the FB01’s competitive ability, during what is being called a “timing test’. Intially this has been reported to mean that Dorna and the IRTA are interested in seeing as to whether or not Garry McCoy can take the FB01 around the course within three seconds of last season’s slowest qualifying MotoGP lap time. However, that doesn’t seem to be the case now.

MotoGP: The Last Qualifying for the 2009 Season

The last qualifying session of the year is in the bag, as the gorgeous sunshine of Valencia, Spain bore down on the MotoGP paddock. With the Championship sealed up, all eyes were not on this season, but the next. With more than a few MotoGP riders finding their way into new venues for 2010, we bid them goodbye, yet also welcome the new talent that’s pouring into the premiere class next year. Ben Spies’ Official MotoGP Livery for Valencia

Ben Spies is gearing up for a weekend in the Spanish city of Valencia, as MotoGP makes its last stop of the 2009 season. Appropriately, Yamaha is also getting ready for the addition of Ben Spies into the Tech3 Yamaha garage. Since Spies isn’t officially on the Tech3 team yet, special racing livery is needed for the weekend, and Yamaha has released his full racing kit ahead of the weekend’s races.

MotoGP: Aleix Espargaro To Replace the Injured Niccolo Canepa At Valencian GP

It looks like Aleix Espargaro will be replacing Niccolo Canpea a little bit earlier than planned at the Pramac Ducati team. Canepa, who was scheduled to lose his ride to Espargaro after the final round of MotoGP, has just announced that he won’t be racing at Valencia because he is still recovering from his skin transplant caused be his crash at Phillip Island a month ago.
