It looks like Aleix Espargaro will be replacing Niccolo Canpea a little bit earlier than planned at the Pramac Ducati team. Canepa, who was scheduled to lose his ride to Espargaro after the final round of MotoGP, has just announced that he won’t be racing at Valencia because he is still recovering from his skin transplant caused be his crash at Phillip Island a month ago.

While this isn’t how Canepa wanted to finish an already frustrating season, it is good news for Espargaro who will get an extra weekend on the Ducati before officially taking over the reigns at Pramac. Racing in front of his fellow Spaniards, Espargaro has shown a good aptitude on the otherwise difficult to handle Desmosedici during his time replacing both Canepa Mika Kallio.

Out of MotoGP, Canepa is still hoping for a ride in Moto2 for the 2010 season, whose rider list is due to be announced at Valencia this weekend.
