A Close Call at the 24 Hours of Le Mans

Racing for third place, Honda National Motos wass rushing to fill their CBR1000RR when all of a sudden gallons of race fuel come out of the refueling hose, and slathered the bike in flammable liquid. What happens next is completely predictable to even the most casual race enthusiast.

Likely hitting the super-heated header pipes, the fuel ignites while crew members with minimal fire protection are crowded around the motorcycle trying to dry it with mechanic’s rags. Luckily it would appear no one was injured, but check the video out after the jump to see how close this could have been to a real disaster.

BMW Recalls Over 2000 K-Series Motorcycles

BMW is recalling over 2000 K1300S & K13ooGT motorcycles, from the 2009 & 2010 model years, because of a possible issue with their fueling system, which may lead to the motorcycles stalling during operation. When fueled with poor quality gasoline, the throttle bodies on the K-bikes run the risk of becoming clogged with small deposits, which could lead to the motor stalling.

Harley-Davidson Recalls 111,569 Motorcycles

Harley-Davidson is issuing a recall on its 2009 & 2010 touring line made between June 6, 2008, and Nov. 19, 2009, which consists of 111,569 motorcycles in total. The recall is due to concerns over the fuel tank mounts on these motorcycles, which might distort in a collision, possibly leaking fuel, and thus causing a fire.

WSBK: Race 2 at Donington Park Ends with a Nearly Fractured Vertebrae

If the close racing of Race 1 wasn’t enough drama for the fans at Donington Park, Race 2 provided it in full. Another breakaway start, and a couple key crashes, lead to a shake up in the finishing results, and one rider was rushed off to the hospital for a suspected fractured vertabrae that might change the course of the season. WSBK: Race 1 at Donington Park Decided by Fuel

World Superbike came to Donington Park this weekend, and in Race 1 three riders broke away from the pack at blistering speed. With only two riders capable of pushing further, it looked like the race victory would be decided on the very last lap. Ducati Desmosedici Recall

This article will be completely devoid of any comments about Italian reliability. Resisting that temptation like Adam resisted the apple from Eve, it would appear that there might be a teeny-tiny-ity-bity problem with the Ducati Desmosedici’s fuel tank drain and breather hose.

Fuel Injection Problems?

Are you having fuel injection problems? Check to see if your injectors are clogged. Try looking for any loose connections in the wiring loom. Or, if you’re this guy, double check to make sure you don’t have two huge freaking holes from where your buddy drilled through your ECU while installing a license plate holder.
