Paddock Pass Podcast #168 – French GP

Episode 168 of the Paddock Pass Podcast is out, and this one sees David Emmett and Neil Morrison  on the mics, as the pair discusses the French GP at Le Mans.

The guys kickoff the show with a discussion of how the weather affected the race, and especially how it turned tire choice into a gamble, but one that produced a popular winner.

Of course, there has to be a conversation about Danilo Petrucci’s victory, along with Alex Marquez getting on the podium.

Conversely, there is also talk about how the rain doomed Jack Miller’s race, forcing him to use an engine that had already developed a problem.

The show then takes a look at the race for the championship, and how in the end, the result of Le Mans had remarkably little effect in the standings.

This is because  only Andrea Dovizioso was able to make gains, while Fabio Quartararo, Joan Mir, and Maverick Viñales all ended up battling for ninth position.

The guys also try to explain Maverick Viñales’ decision not to run launch control at the race start, instead doing it manually.

Lastly, the show gets into some news on the VR46 team, and Luca Marini stepping up to MotoGP in 2021, and Neil explains what happened at the start of that bizarre Moto2 race. And then as usual, we finish up with our winners and losers.
