The Husqvarna Norden 901 Is Finally Ready for Primetime

It’s finally here. The Husqvarna Norden 901 is finally here. Two years after its concept EICMA debut, the Husqvarna Norden 901 is here for the 2022 model year.

While it might be the “Blue & White” version of the KTM 890 Adventure, you can tell from the photos that this isn’t simply a rebadged version of the Austrian machine.

Husqvarna has gone to great lengths to create its own styling of the 890 platform, with a rather large departure visually from the “Ready to Race” orange machines.

Mechanically speaking though, this apple didn’t fall far from the tree, with the 2022 Husqvarna Norden 901 coming very similarly equipped to the base model KTM 890 Adventure.

For the extra $900 that Husqvarna is commanding over the KTM model, it would seem that the Norden 901 is designed to be more of a world-explorer, with more bodywork protection for long highway stints and Husky’s first infotainment system (an optional item though, we might add).

For hard specs, there is a 21″ front wheel, 18″ rear wheel, with tubeless Pirelli Scorpion Rally STR hooking up the dirt and road.

Interestingly, there is 215mm and 220mm of travel from the WP APEX suspension pieces, which is a slight increase over the sibling KTM’s suspension travel figures of 200mm fore and aft. Ground clearance is 252mm (just under 10 inches).

Of course, at the core of the machine is an 890cc parallel-twin engine, which makes 103hp (77 kW), and comes fitted with three standard riding modes (Rain, Street, and Off-Road, along with the optional “Explore” mode).

There is an up/down quickshifter, slipper clutch, traction control, and cornering ABS (with an off-road mode). Of note, Husqvarna has fitted auxiliary LED lights into the bodywork, which is a nice touch.

To get you where you need to go, the fuel tank is 19 liters in size (5.02 gallons), which is good for 400 km of range, which our math has down as 248.5 American Freedom Miles. Curb weight is roughly 479 lbs (Husqvarna is quoting 450 lbs sans fuel).

If you like what you see, then you won’t need to wait long to get one, as the 2022 Husqvarna Norden 901 is hitting dealerships in North America and Europe this November. However, you will need to find $13,999 in your wallet to cover the price tag.

Is the Husqvarna Norden 901 worth the wait? Has the Swedish brand differentiated itself enough from its KTM sibling? Have the Austrians lost their advantage taking this long to get the Husqvarna Norden 901 to market?

Tell us your thoughts in the comments. Rumor has it, we will have the first press impressions in the coming days.
