When the KTM 890 Duke debuted two weeks ago, we were impressed by what the Austrian brand was bringing to the table with this 890cc naked bike.
The KTM 790 Duke had been our sweet spot for price and performance in the sport, and while the KTM 890 Duke promised more “bang” than its predecessor, we wondered at what cost on the “buck” side of the equation.
This is because KTM North America didn’t release pricing information when the 2021 KTM 890 Duke was unveiled – thankfully our Bothan spies have been busy on the job.
Priced at $10,999 MSRP, the 2021 KTM 890 Duke marks a $300 increase over the 790 model by the same name.
Before you start thinking that the KTM 890 Duke is priced too closely to R-spec version of the bike (the 2020 model was price at $11,699 MSRP), KTM North America has also increased this model’s price tag.
As such, the KTM 890 Duke R will cost $11,999 MSRP in 2021 – $1,000 more than the base model version.
Despite the price increases, KTM’s middleweight-twin offering still makes a strong argument to those who want to rip on a budget, and they rank very high on our list of bike’s that should be in your garage.
However, KTM has some stern competition in the space now for the 2021 model year. The revised Ducati Monster lines up well on the spec-sheet offering against the KTM 890 Duke R, and is only $900 more ($11,895 MSRP) for its benefits.
At the other end of the spectrum, there is the Aprilia Tuono 660, which is coming to market this year with a price tag of $10,499 – which is $500 cheaper than the base model KTM 890 Duke.
What does all of this mean? It is a great time to be in the market for a premium middleweight naked bike as there are a bevy of good ones on the market, and they are all vying for you dollars.
