When we first caught a glimpse of the Honda CRF300L Rally last year, we speculated that the machine could be making its way to the United States for the 2021 model year.
That educated guess is coming true now, as not only will the United States get the Honda CRF300L Rally, but also the Honda CRF300L for the current model year.
Both bikes bring a modest upgrade to their previous 250cc counterparts, including a revised air intake, inlet cam timing, and a new exhaust system.
All of this makes for more peak horsepower and more torque across the rev-range, with the European-spec bikes laying claim to a peak power figure of 27hp (20.1 kW) and 20 lbs•ft (26.6 Nm) of torque.
In addition to the motor changes, Honda has also modified the gearbox, shortening the ratios, save for 6th gear, which is now taller and better suited to highway cruising.
There is also now a slipper clutch, a new swingarm, and more lateral flex in the chassis. Longer travel suspension helps increase the ground clearance figure (275 mm), and the new rider position should be more comfortable for longer trips. The fuel tank is 12.8 liters too.
That is a smart move from Honda, as the CRF300 boasts a larger fuel tank as well at 3.4 gallons (12.8 liters), which will extend the riding range. Of note, the 2021 Honda CRF300L Rally still tips the scales at 309 lbs at the curb.
American pricing for the Honda CRF300L Rally is set at $5,999 MSRP ($6,299 for the ABS model). Meanwhile, the Honda CRF300L dirt bike will cost $5,249 ($5,549). Both bikes will be available in March.
