Video: Too Close for Comfort – Riders Barely Escape from Head-on Collision

After watching this video of two riders narrowly escaping from a head-on collision with each other, we are motivated to check our own pants for evidence of such a near miss. While the rider passing the truck is clearly at fault, and in the oncoming lane of the videoed supermoto rider, we can’t help but ponder the other scenes in the clip where our protagonist is seen crossing the double yellow (at one point grossly in the other lane) in order to line up his corner entry.

Had these riders passed each other a different corner, we suspect the roles would have been completely reversed. Take it to the track fellas, or as Walter would say, “OVER THE LINE!

Yikes! Just another reason to take it to the track/off road.

I agree that the Supermoto rider was using more road than he should have in previous corners but those were corners where he had line-of-site and there was no traffic coming. Not the smartest way to ride the street (obviously), but he was taking less risk than you’re making out.

He was well in his own lane in the blind corner where the near-miss occurred. The other rider was clearly at fault and I’m guessing he was more of a beginner. He had no reason to be where he was, especially in a blind corner. He’s lucky he didn’t kill himself or the other rider(s). The van was well over to the side of the road and he should not have been in the oncoming lane. Hell, he shouldn’t have been passing in a blind corner on a double-yellow for that matter. Totally his fault.

All of these guys need to thank whatever god they believe in…

I can’t believe the BMW didn’t have to stop like they did, and that we didn’t see video of that little introduction! I’d have some choice words for that mofo.

This is why I don’t go near The Dragon on weekends. This type of riding / driving is way to common.

It seems that although the two riders were the victims in the end, they were riding over their skill level. Their lines were way off, they couldn’t properly negotiate a curve, the knee dragging is unnecessary given their ability. They would actually have more fun staying in their lane and leaning the bike over more than trying to straighten out the curves by riding over the line. It’s just bad form and bad etiquette. But….glad they are ok. The other rider coming the other way is a lost cause. He’s going to get someone killed, and almost did

  6. Another example of idiots who think the road is their personal racetrack.

These idots are what gives all m/cer’s a bad name. They were definately riding over their skill level & hotdogging. It’s too bad he didn’t a tree & cleaned up the gene pool a bit.

Dude WTF were you watching. Sure you don’t have to condone their overall aggresive style. So they are Hotdoggers, they were not recklass and stating they were riding over their skill level is not accurate IMO.
There was no-fault on their end at all.
