Ducati North America Posts All Time Monthly Sales Record Ducati 1199 Panigale Superstock 635x425

What happens when you release the most anticipated, and we’d argue the most important, superbike in the company’s history? Well you have a record month of sales, of course. It should be unsurprising then that Ducati North America posted a 49% sales growth last month, making May 2012 the company’s best month ever sales-wise. Ducati North America pushed 1,782 units in May, for a total of 4,844 units sold in January thru May (up 19% over 2011, and 98% over 2010).

Ducati North America is citing the 2012 Ducati 1199 Panigale and the 2012 Ducati Streetfighter 848 as the two models responsible for the record sales, though we imagine it is the prior model, not the latter, that is doing the lion’s share of the work on the dealership floors.

“This fantastic result confirms the customer’s enthusiasm for our brand that has led us to double our sales in just 24 months,” said Cristiano Silei, Ducati Vice President of Global Sales and CEO of Ducati North America. “The increasing appeal of our expanding product line, our experience-based marketing strategy and the strengthening of our dealer network, represent the key building blocks that will continue to fuel our future growth.”

  1. I must say, if the Empulse was delayed another year, I may of had to change my name to PanigaleBuyer. Ducati has made so much progress since I bought my 749 ~7 years ago… Im just not as excited about Japanese bikes anymore, and im getting to the point where style, convenience, and comfort is becoming more important than all out speed. Ducati definitely has style and speed down pat. Congrats to Ducati.

    Ducati is making some lust worthy bikes again. I finally saw a panigale in the flesh and I gotta say it looks better in person. A few years ago when I was in the market for a bike, I almost bought a Ducati but the services were still such a pain in the ass. Now after some good development Ducati has upped its service intervals and lowered the overall cost of ownership. Smart company that actually listens to buyers and knows the market.

    @EmpulseBuyer

    I agree. The Japanese manufacturers just aren’t taking chances with sportbikes anymore. Honda hasn’t taken a chance since the RC51 went out of production. (I still believe the RC51 Sp1 was the best sportbike Japan ever produced). Kawasaki is starting to show some signs of hope at least.

    I hope the Panigale continues to rack up sales, that way I can snipe a barely used 1198 on the cheap :)

    Im gonna come clean.

    I only looked at the article because of the MAGNIFICENT Picture…and because comments usually rock(both ways). That’s all.

    @Damo:

    Amen Brother and im not talking about the RC51 SP1(A FINE BIKE anyways) but rather the whole Japanese Bike Spectrum.
    They have gone Vanilla and as exciting to look at as paint drying…(O_O)
    Yes, Kawasaki seems to be carrying the torch (somehow ?)…lol.

  7. J W says:

    I hope Ducati is treating Nicky well behind the scenes

  8. Andre says:

    Having settled the class action lawsuit over the expanding plastic tank issue in their favor, will no doubt also help their bottom line.! Had to get that in on behalf of those suffering this issue. ;-)

  9. I visited my local Ducati dealer here in Sacramento just this past Friday. I asked him if he had a Panigale and he said that he had already sold all of his allotment. I asked him how many Panigale’s he ordered and he said “16″. He said that some dealers in Southern California had ordered twice that many and that they were sold out too.

  10. Damo says:

    @Randy

    Up here is the Northeast I have only seen one Panigale (a Tricolour) and it was only still in the showroom because the buyer hadn’t picked it up yet. It is amazing how quick they are selling.

    Like I said 1198 and 1098 trade ins are on the rise, time to snatch one up!

  11. JD says:

    Damn Right Damo!!!

    I’m smellin a 1198 S about now Corsa flavored
