2010 CBR1000RR: Larger Flywheel and New Paint

American Honda announced the 2010 CBR1000RR today, with the Fireblade getting some slight cosmetic and mechanical advancements for next year. This announcement, along with the 2010 CBR600RR (article coming soon), follows Honda’s earlier announcement of the 2010 Fury as well as the new, scooters, dirt bikes and ATVs.

In the go-fast department, the Fireblade will sport the following changes:

  • Increased-diameter flywheel for more inertia and improved performance.
  • Redesigned license plate stay for easier removal on track days.
  • New muffler cover for enhanced appearance.

American Honda Powersports Press Manager Bill Savino announced with this release that “the CBRs continue to set the standards of performance for the full-on sporting genre.” He then went on to say that, “This sets the stage for a great year in 2010 and there will be additional street model announcements later this fall,” which we can only assume refers to the unveiling of the much anticipated VFR1200.

For 2010, the CBR1000RR will come with some additional graphic schemes, which continue to “debland” the Japanese brand…to put it nicely. Europeans however, will receive an even more radical departure from Honda’s typically conservative aesthetic tastes.

In the United States, the CBR1000RR will be available in pearl orange/light metallic silver and red/black, whereas the ABS model will be available in black only. For our European brothers and sisters, a retro-HRC tri-color paint scheme is available, along with a black/white, and all black variant.

Honda has yet to determine dealer availability and MSRP, but we don’t anticipate significant changes in either department.
