EICMA: 2009 KTM 1190 RC8 R

We knew it was coming, an “R” version of the RC8. Picture yourself as an Austrian motorcycle company. You’re sitting at a strandbar in Vienna, falling in love with a blonde girl named Theresea, and it hits you! No, its not love. At least not the love between a man and a woman. No, this is the love of a man and a motorcycle dream. The need to take the throbbing v-twin heart the resides in only a few select riders, and inject it with even that much more lust of an already wicked set of sex on wheels.

Adding a new Keihin engine management system, the RC8 R’s 1195cc v-twin has been “massaged” to produce 165bhp at 10,250rpm and 90 lb•ft of torque at 8,000rpm. Not satisfied? KTM is offering an optional racing kit that’ll boost power to 180bhp.

Danke Schön!

With its new orange-and-black-on-white paintjob, fully adjustable WP suspension, Brembo brakes and lightweight cast aluminium wheels, the RC8 R weighs 183kg dry, and looks flat out fantastic.
