Husqvarna 701 Supermoto, Coming to the USA

It seems our hopes have been answered, as the Husqvarna 701 Supermoto has been confirmed for the US market, for the 2016 model year. We already knew that the 701 would be available in Europe, starting in November 2015, but word for other markets was non-existent.

Now clarifying things, Husqvarna has confirmed that the Husqvarna 701 Supermoto will be at dealerships in the USA, as well as other markets, start in February 2016. Yes, that means you too can now own a KTM 690 SMC R, dressed in blue and white.

A machine we’ve known about since last year’s EICMA show, the Husqvarna 701 Supermoto features 690cc engine that makes 67hp along with a 320 lbs ready-to-go sans fuel. The four-stroke thumper also comes with an APTC slipper clutch, ABS brakes, WP suspension, and ride-by-wire throttle with riding modes.

With that set of features, track riders will likely prefer the nearly as powerful, yet substantially lighter Husqvarna FS 450 Supermoto. Though, street riders will enjoy the smoother 690cc engine platform, as well as the bigger powerband and fatter torque curve of the Husqvarna 701 Supermoto.

There’s no word yet on the Husqvarna 701 Enduro, though we would expect a similar order of things.
