BRP Recalls Can-Am Spyders for Faulty Clutch

Bombardier Recreational Prodcuts (BRP) is recalling certain 2010 Can-Am Spyders for a faulty clutch assembly that could cause the trike to stall when stopped, and then not start again. The problem occurs on units that have the SE5 semi-automatic transmission installed, namely the 2010 Spyder RS SE5 2nd Series and 2010 Spyder RT SE5 Roadsters, which makes a total of 1200 units possibly affected by this problem.

According to the recall information, the affected Spyders can potetially stall when they come to a complete stop because the clutch may stay engaged on the trike. Once the engine stalls, it becomes impossible to restart or move the vehicle because the clutch won’t then disengage. This could lead to a potentially dangerous situation, and as such BRP will contact potentially affected customers in order to arrange for a repair. BRP dealers will then perform the recall free of charge.

Concerned owners can contact BRP directly at 1-888-638-5397 or call the NHTSA at 1-888-327-4236.
