Where was Hector Barbera getting the extra go-juice on the last straight? Ducatis had the slowest average top speed, but he’s the fastest overall. You didn’t add the pramac top speeds to that, did you?
That’s interesting. Spies seemed to be close in top speed. Did the Hondas get to top speed faster? Better off the corners to have it at the end of the straight? Nice work by the way with all the coverage in fact….. take the day off and go to the beach and enjoy yourselves.
Woody: Barbera is earning himself the reputation for always looking for a tow. His top speed and qualifying position are directly related to the fact that he waits for faster riders, and follows them over the course getting a better lap time than he should.
Steve: Cheers! Glad you enjoyed it.
I looked, but didn’t see the graphic showing where you were at each lap of the race. Also, it would be nice to know what you were eating and/or drinking during the race, your blood pressure and heart rate, and your elevation. Other than that, excellent graphic!
Sorry Harry, I’ll dock Peter’s pay accordingly.
If you look at the top speed data from the MotoGP website Barbera’s top 5 top speeds are all abo9ut 5km/h faster than the next fastest rider (Spies). All of the rest of the field are covered by 5 km/h difference … and Barbera isnt the only one drafting in the race.
The data for Ducati above clearly includes the two Pramac bikes, which didnt finish a lap, because the Ducatis arent that slow.

the ducati portion of the top speed chart does include all of the speed data provided for Ducati, hence the “average” in the title ;) it would be unfair to just include only the fast riders.
the data is based off of the top speed that each “fast” rider posted, not the average of each rider, so it doesn’t take the laps into much consideration. Ducati happens to have the most riders posting top speeds, it just so happened that it didn’t work in their favor this time, because they also had the “slowest” fast riders as well (if you can really call 125.9 mph slow!!!).
dock my pay huh? ;)
thanks for the compliments and criticisms :) -peter
