After locking down Movistar with a five-year title sponsor contract, Yamaha has had to go back and re-shoot its 2014 MotoGP livery. That’s just fine by us, as we love any excuse to get high-resolution photos of GP bikes. The changes to the paint on the 2014 Yamaha YZR-M1 isn’t as dramatic as we thought it would be though, with Yamaha fitting the Movistar logos into its already existing layout.

At least this time around we get some professional looking photos for your viewing pleasure (the ones from Indonesia look like they were shot in a utility closet), though there must have been a rush to get them out as the color correction is a bit off, and you can spot some Photoshop artifacts in a couple photos. Still, with the 2014 MotoGP Championship about get underway in day’s time, we aren’t complaining…too much.

  1. Ty S. says:

The M1 is REALLY starting to look dated. The elimination of the white/chrome on the nose and chrome from the fairing bottoms accelerate this look exponentially. This looks like a 2005 GP bike. Bad graphical move, Yamaha. Probably forced by the might hand of $$ from Movistar to make their logo stand out, nevertheless it looks bad.

  2. paulus says:

Uncoordinated poop. None of the timeless classic schemes of the 80’s and 90’s.
What a mish-mash of logo’s and visual overload.
In 10 years we will look back and say WTF were they wearing/thinking.
Has motorcycling got so low a budget that leathers have to be made from the scraps of old sets of others?
No wonder they were in that broom closet… they were hiding from these awful schemes ;)

  3. Vinod says:

I think Yamaha has the most sponsors in motogp now. Sometimes too much is good for the sport. I like the blue colour that comes with the Movistar logo and the same logo on the tail.

  4. hdab says:

no me gustó. it resembles those continental/regional cycling teams, with tons of sponsors in their jerseys.

  5. L2C says:

They aren’t starving for sponsors too much now. That is a good thing. The livery is not bad. Bring it on!

  6. Gutterslob says:

Needs a small ’74’ sticker to be complete.

  7. n/a says:

Old bike with the new bodywork – Where the f**k is the brake protector?

  8. Paul McM says:

Thank you Movistar for sponsoring Team Yamaha. But I doubt Movistar will get its money’s worth. First, the Movistar logo is too similar to Monster Energy’s Green “M”.

But more importantly, this bike is just too overwhelmed with logos — there are so many sponsor markings that nothing stands out at all.

Let’s see, NOT counting all the crap on the riders’ suits, we have all these wordmarks and labels on the bike (and I probably missed a few). This is absurd:

  9. Norm G. says:

eh, whatever. let’s race. sick of this 101 weeks of no activity after Phil’s Isle.

  10. That’s a lot of weeks…

  11. Peter G says:

It just looks plain boring .

  12. Chad D. says:

Thank you Norm G. I’m ready for lights out til checkered flag.

  13. Thunderbug says:

Nice to see Lorenzo rockin’ some whiskers. He needed something so he doesn’t look so much like a twerp.

  14. Rad Rage says:

The problem is really the white, the damn white; what the hell is up with the white? Is it the new black or something? Ducati’s new livery also looks pale with the amount of white it’s integrated into the design but at least it’s coherent somewhat. But this, this is ridiculous, if they substituted the white with their traditional blue and lost all the white, the bike would look much better. I am also sure there lime green (shared by the two primary sponsors) can be used as a highlight slightly more.

I hope their results fare better than their skins.

  15. Westward says:

I noticed Lorenzo replaced his Spartan icon with the Eurasian Bank icon on that back of his helmet. Oh well, though not his biggest fan I do like his helmet sans the bank logo.

But what I am really liking is that HJC RPHA-10 model.

  16. Grex says:

The bike looks a mess…..nothing flows……just a billboard for advertising, worst look for Yamaha in yrs..no thought has gone into it at all

  17. Peter G says:

I’m looking forward to the race winners speech when he has to thank all of them :-)

I hope that Lorenzo isn’t going to wear that helmet that he is sitting on…. They are designed for wearing, not using as a seat .
