Monza World Superbike Round Dropped for 2016

If you were looking forward to the return of World Superbike racing at the Autodromo Nazionale Monza, we have bad news for you, as the Italian track has been dropped from this year’s Championship calendar.

The move comes as more time is required to understand and fix the problems with the circuit, in order for Monza to meet FIM homologation and safety requirements.

World Superbike is also announcing that the substitute circuit contract with the Vallelunga circuit will not be activated, as it does not have enough notice to make the required modifications to the venue that would enable Vallelunga to host a round of World Superbike series.

It’s not certain at this time whether a new round will replace Monza, though World Superbike hopes to have a decision on that by May 1st.
