Aprilia issued two recalls today, one concerning 2014-2015 Aprilia Shiver 750 models, and the other concerning 2015 Aprilia Caponord 1200 models. In all, the recall affects 337 units, and involves the output gear shaft.
According to the report filed with the NHTSA, the the output gear shaft face may have been improperly machined, which can cause the fastening screw on the sprocket to loosen, and potentially lock-up the rear wheel.

The wrappings have been taken off the 2011 Aprilia Shiver 750 ahead of the Intermot show in Germany this week, with the middleweight street naked getting an adjusted rider position that should prove to be sportier than previous models. With a narrower seat, and revised foot and hand positions, new Shiver 750 owners will find themselves hunched over more as they slam through city streets and canyon roads (we’re not too sure about Aprilia’s claim that a “sportier” riding position will be “perfect for longer hauls”). Last year we brought to you leaked photos of the 2010 Aprilia Shiver 750, which showed the naked bike getting a facelift from Aprilia. With its official press release on Friday, Aprilia has released more photos and details about the Shiver 750, which confirm our earlier reports. The 2010 Aprilia Shiver 750 looks as expected and features some minor touches like a lower seat, wave brake discs, revised sitting position, and a narrower rear wheel (5.5″ from 6.0″). Aprilia hopes these revisions will help sell a few more Shiver 750’s this year, and clear stock for the next iteration of the Shiver line. How do you think they did?
