We have never seen something quite like the Lazareth LM 847, a Maserati-powered leaning four-wheeler that was imagined by some of the craziest minds in France right now.
Making a modest 470hp from its 4.7-liter V8 engine, and tipping the scales are roughly 880 lbs, as you can imagine, there is a lot going on with this unique machine.
Interestingly enough though, there seems to be a strong future for machines like the Lazareth LM 847, with Honda, Kawasaki, and Yamaha also looking at leaning multi-wheel vehicles.
We doubt that the Japanese brands will produce something as ostentatious as Lazareth did here, but that’s part of what makes the LM 847 so intriguing…isn’t it?
The minds at French builder Lazareth are truly mad as a hatter, and Asphalt & Rubber has published several of their more eccentric designs here on our pages. Lazareth’s latest build takes the cake though. The Lazareth LM 847, which debuted today in Geneva, features the 4.7-liter, 470hp, V8 engine out of a Maserati automobile, with a leaning quad chassis built around it. We generally loath making comparisons of a manufacturer’s design to another’s, but here Lazareth does seem to be stealing from the best. The 880 lbs vehicle is conceptually like the Dodge Tomahawk, which featured the V10 engine from the Dodge Viper sports car. The leaning quad setup looks very similar to the Yamaha Tesseract concept, both visually and technically.
The Kawasaki J Concept isn’t the first example of a leaning mutli-wheel vehicles that you ride upon, as I’m sure you have all seen the similarly themed Yamaha Tesseract by now. Neither a motorcycle, nor a quad…we would even be reluctant to call the Kawasaki J Concept a trike, as the riding experience is complete different from other three-wheelers (technically it has four wheels, though the two rear tires act as one).
As such the J Concept and Tesseract exist in a class all to themselves, and that is probably the point of these concept machines: to explore new forms of vehicle recreation and transportation.
The design as it looks now, doesn’t seem too practical, but the idea of a completely adjustable riding position sounds like a concept with some merit — a sport machine for when you want to go fast, an upright sitting position for when you want to cruise. Hmm…
Sometimes we like our concept motorcycles to be funky, and the Kawasaki J Concept certainly delivers in that department. Debuting at the Tokyo Motor Show a vision on what the future of motorcycling could become, the Kawasaki J is an electric trike/quad with a variable riding position/chassis configuration. Not too dissimilar from the Yamaha Tesseract, the J Concept is an interesting exercise in design and technology proposals, and could be the future of leaning-trikes and similar vehicles. What are your thoughts?
We’ve covered the Lazareth Wazuma before, in its E85 drinking BMW V12 semi-bio-friendly form. Of course when you’ve already built a 500hp supercharged slede that makes mothers lock up their daughters, there isn’t much stopping you from pushing the limits even further, as is the case with Lazareth’s latest iteration of the Wazuma platform. Now powered by a Ferrari V8 motor, the Lazareth Wazuma V8F boasts other fun items like its BMW M3 gearbox, with push-to-shift controls embedded into the four-wheeler’s handlebars.
French-built Lazareth Wazuma Bio V12 runs on E85, and costs €200,000.
