With racing getting started around the world in the coming weeks, we see that the Honda CBR1000RR-R Fireblade SP (officially the longest name in the superbike category) is ready for British Superbike duty, with Honda Racing unveiling the bike’s livery today.

With black fairings, and notably few sponsors on the machine’s fairings, this CBR1000RR-R might be a bit of a statement about the status of the world’s economy, and the role that motorcycle racing plays within it, but we appreciate the clean look nonetheless.

After showing the Honda Crosstourer as a concept model at last year’s EICMA show, the Japanese company has announced that it will bring the V4 adventure-tourer to market for the 2012 model year. Bringing a very polished concept vehicle to Milan, Honda made no secret about the possibility of the Crosstourer becoming a reality. Honda is remaining tight-lipped regarding specifics about the new Crosstourer, saying simply that the bike will have a V4 motor and will have an optional dual-clutch transmission.

This news likely means the 2012 Honda Crosstourer will sport the same 1,237cc motor as the Honda VFR1200F, though Honda UK coyly only says in its press release that the Crosstourer will have a “V4 engine configuration – also found in the VFR1200F.” Honda has already produced some videos explaining the ethos behind the adventure-tourer, but we’ll have to wait until November for all the specifics. Press release from Honda UK after the jump.

UPDATED: In addition to the 392 VFR1200F’s being recalled in the UK, 519 units are being recalled in France, and 165 are being recalled in Italy (with 2 engines presenting this defect).

Honda VFR1200F owners in the United Kingdom might have to bring their bike back to the Honda mother ship as Honda UK is recalling 392 VFR’s for metal shavings that may have ended up in the engine. A problem that could possibly lead to a motor failure, the condition appears only to affect VFR1200F’s that were manufacturered during a specific time period.
