2011 KTM 1198 RC8 R Track Launching at Intermot

While we already knew that the new 2011 KTM 125 Duke would be making an appearance at Intermot, we now know that the Austrian company will debut two more motorcycles at the show in Germany: the 2011 KTM 1198 RC8 R Track & the 2011 KTM 990 Supermoto T. Since these photos are just leaking out ahead of the Intermot show, we have very little information (find it after the jump), but expect more updates as we get closer to the show’s date.

The 2011 KTM 1198 RC8 R Track is exactly what it sounds like, a track-only version of the 1198 RC8 R superbike. Devoid of things like mirrors, headlights, and sanity, the 2011 KTM 1198 RC8 R is likely to bring an even bigger grin than the street-going version did when we took it for a ride around Laguna Seca earlier this year. We’ll be curious to see if there’s any modifications beyond just taking off the street-legal items, but this could be THE track bike to own in 2011. We doubt it’ll be cheap.

The biggest question is, will KTM finally enters WSBK Next year?

more details please, this is actually exactly what I was thinking a manufac. could do with 600’s. Literally its like 2 boxes of stuff you take off a bike for it to be track ready let alone the plastics you ditch or sell. I mean they should go as far to sell it without rearsets, chain and sprockets while they are at it (of course if it lowers the price alittle). I wonder what the deal is to keep it from getting registered down the line??

Why do it with a flagship? weird but I still love it. I wonder if the triples are different or suspension, plus engine and or exhaust, they already had those powerup club kits…. I need to know this sounds good to me
